Xiaomi India has once again increased the price of Redmi 8A Dual, Redmi 8, and Redmi Note 8 in the country. This is the third price hike for these handsets and second in a month. Last time, the price of these devices were hiked/increased by ₹500 and the same has happened again.
The Redmi 8A Dual, the cheapest of the lot launched at ₹6,499 for the 2GB + 32GB variant. The price of this handset was later increased to ₹6,999 when the new GST came into effect in April.
This was followed by an unexplained price hike in early May making the phone retail for ₹7,299. Now, once again, the company increases its price by ₹200 and hence it now retails for ₹7,499. It is worth noting that higher 3GB + 32GB did not see any change in price this time and still retails for ₹7,999.
A similar pattern can be seen for the next two phones as well. The Redmi 8 4GB + 64GB launched at ₹7,999. But the GST hike increased its price to ₹8,999, followed by another hike earlier this month (₹9,299) and now it costs ₹9,499 after the latest ₹200 hike.
The Redmi Note 8 was crowned with the best smartphone title for ₹9,999 when it launched. But now after months from its release, the base 4GB + 64GB variant’s price has been increased by ₹2,000, whereas the 6GB + 128GB received a price hike of ₹1,500. The phone now costs ₹11,999 and ₹14,499 respectively for the two available storage configurations.
Like the other two devices mentioned above, this is the third overall price hike for the Redmi Note 8 too. The new prices of these handsets are applicable to both online and offline channels.
